Sowing and reaping is a simple natural law that many individuals ignore. Unfortunately, it has led to the ruin of many lives.

The Holy book (the bible) quotes: “Whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.” This then means:

  1. Everything you do has repercussion.
  2. You cannot escape the consequences of your actions.
  3. You will see the long term effects of your actions.
  4. What goes around comes around.

The life of Ben Carson today is a testimony and the consequence work of Sonya Carson, his mother. She made all her effort to seeing that her children became something to be recon with in the world! Don’t think that you can get away with bad choices in your children’s upbringing even if you don’t see the immediate consequence. The concept of sowing and reaping is agrarian. A farmer sows seed in one season and reaps the harvest in another. The same is true about life, including parenting. If you fail to restrain your children from doing evil or being wayward, especially when they are young and tender, you will definitely reap the fruit of your negligence when they grow up. Your children will become what you raise them to be in life. Many parents fail in their responsibility because they don’t know what parenting really entails.

Literary, Parenting is the process of promoting and supporting the physical, emotional, social and intellectual development of a child from infancy to adulthood.

Giving you child food that makes them to be grow healthy, training them to be emotionally balanced in life, helping them not to become social misfits, or giving them good formal education by putting them in the best schools in town is not successful parenting if they end up being useless to themselves, their families and to the community at large. Children are gifts from God. God entrust you with these children with the sole responsibility of helping them grow. He made you their primary caregiver and expects you as the parent to wield a godly influence on them.

  1. Don’t gloss your children misconduct instead of correcting them immediately.
  2. Don’t allow them to have their way all the time because they are little children.

This is the excuse of most parents; they erroneously believe the children will outlive their ungodly behaviour. Children have their natural propensity to do the wrong things but it’s your duty as parent to do whatever it takes to put them in the right track. If you indulge your children instead of correcting their misdeeds, you’re prepping them up to become wayward in life; you’re training them in the way they ought not to go – the way of the wayward.

Remember, you will reap what you sow! There will always be a harvest time! Parents who allow their children grow up with negative traits without correcting them early often reap plenty harvests of sorrow in their old age.

Are you a parent and your children has become so wayward and out of your control? You can make a difference by working on that child… If nothing works, pray for him/her and see what happens…
